The Future of Regenerative Medicine in Texas

Texans for Cures is hosting the summit to discuss the ramifications and interpretations of HB 810, passed during the 85th Legislative Session. We will also determine ways to better utilize the Texas Stem Cell Research Coordinating Board, including opportunities to expand the ethical study and use of regenerative medicine during the 86th Legislative Session.

2. The future direction of Regenerative Medicine in Texas through legislation:

  • Possible name change of the Texas Stem Cell Research Coordinating      Board  to the, “Texas Regenerative Medicine Coordinating Board” (TMRC), pursuant to HB 177 by Zedler (84th Legislative Session)
  • Discussion of funding TMRC with appropriations from the state instead of by gifts, grants, or donations
  • Discussion of qualifications for appointing board members to the TMRC
  • Discussion of awarding grants to biomedical companies in the regenerative medicine field
