BEHIND THE SCIENCE

HOW DO WE FIND THE CURE?

Immunotherapy for cancer is the process by which we help the immune system see a tumor as something harmful that should be destroyed. There are many different kinds of immunotherapy, but we advocate strategies that are very specific, eradicating the tumor without hurting any other part of the patient.

 CLINICAL TRIALS

Our clinical trial focuses on four pediatric brain cancers that have some of the poorest prognoses. Treatment options for these patients are often limited to clinical trials such as ours. Government and foundation funding for these type of trials is limited and highly competitive, which is why we need your help.

Our clinical trial focuses on the four following pediatric brain cancers:
* AT/RT Atypical Teratoid Rhabdoid Tumor
* High grade glioblastoma (HGG)
* High risk medullablastoma
* High risk ependymoma

OUR EFFORTS

Our team is comprised of experts from leading US cancer treatment and research institutions. Through our collaborative approach we bring together leaders in many disciplines to develop innovative and effective cancer treatment strategies that utilize the power of the human immune system.

WHY WE NEED YOUR HELP

The prognoses for these cancers are very poor and children diagnosed with these cancers often turn to clinical trials like ours to give them the best chance possible to fight this disease.

Our research on immunotherapy for cancer treatment has revealed promising discoveries and results and with your help we will help children fight cancer with the powerful resource of immunotherapy.

Children in our clinical trials receive the current recommended treatment for their particular cancer, plus customized immunotherapy. Clinical treatment takes place at Sanford Health, Sioux Falls, S.D., whereas individualized immunotherapy treatments based on the patient’s specific disease and pathology are created by our immunology team at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
